He started as a graphic designer at 10, taught himself to code on YouTube, and started at WebHR as an unpaid intern at the beginning of 2022, aged 18, hired as a software engineer by the middle of that year. He holds a BS in Software Engineering from the University of Sindh. At WebHR he ran the web.hr website and its SEO, reaching 9,000 Google Search clicks in a month, then moved to React Native, where he revamped the mobile app with his lead manager and grew it from 3,000 to 12,000+ users on a platform used in 190+ countries. He now also works on the AI side of Somezing, WebHR and AskBooks, building with LLMs and RAG. He is open to React Native and frontend engineering roles. ## Story Full version: https://ibii.dev/about ### It started with Photoshop I grew up in Hyderabad, Sindh. There aren't many software companies here, so none of this was an obvious path to take. When I was 10, my interest moved from playing games on the computer to editing photos on it. I'd open my own pictures in Photoshop and try to make them look like something. My middle brother was a graphic designer and a freelancer, and I'd sit and watch him build logos and brand identities in Illustrator until I started to understand how he was doing it. Eventually I asked if I could submit entries from his account too. Within a month one of my logos got picked and I earned 30 dollars. At that age, in that city, 30 dollars felt like a lot. That one win is why I kept going, and my brother is the reason I had anything to submit in the first place. He helped me more than anyone. ### A designer until I was 17 For the next few years I worked as a designer. Logos, branding, the kind of client work you get when you're young and willing to redo it until it's right. I got fast, and I got used to someone else deciding whether the work was good enough. Then my eldest brother told me to move over to the coding side. He needed help there, and he thought I'd be better off for it. He was right, though it didn't feel like it at the time. ### Learning to code on YouTube I started with HTML and CSS on YouTube. No bootcamp, no one to ask, just videos and a lot of repetition. Then I took an online React test, which showed me exactly how much I didn't know, and spent the next five months practising React the same way. At the start of 2022 I got an offer for an unpaid internship. I was turning 18 that year, I didn't have a degree, and I knew exactly how that looked. I went anyway and cleared the interview test. By the middle of the year they had hired me as a software engineer. ### The website that changed things My first real responsibility was the WebHR website. I ran the whole thing: design, frontend, and the SEO behind it. In a single month it pulled 9,000 clicks from Google Search. I was 18 and had been writing code for about a year. That month is when I stopped feeling like an intern. ### Moving to mobile I wanted to be on the mobile side, so I moved into React Native and I've been there since. I've worked across several modules of the WebHR app, and in 2025 my lead manager and I revamped the entire application. We took it from 3,000 users to over 12,000, on a platform now used in more than 190 countries. Most of that came from fixing what people touched every day rather than adding anything new. ### Then AI Around the time Somezing was getting started, I began working on AI properly. I wanted to understand how LLMs actually work instead of just calling an API, so I picked up Python, read into machine learning, and built my own RAG and LLM setup. I had AI's help doing it and I won't pretend otherwise, but I came out of it understanding the stack rather than just using it. That's been the point of the whole exercise. ### What I'm on now These days I'm working across Somezing, WebHR and AskBooks. I spend real time keeping up with new AI tools, because they genuinely make the work faster and the field moves every week. I use Claude Code every day. At this point you could fairly call me a loyal customer. ### Away from the screen I'm usually out with a camera. Most of my sense of colour comes from photography rather than from any design course: framing, light, and knowing when to leave something out. It's the same instinct I started with at 10, just pointed somewhere else. ## How he works - Own it end to end. The flow, the interface, and the code behind it. - Fix the screens people open every day before the ones they open once. - Fewer steps beats more features. - Fast is a feature. People quietly avoid slow software. - Ship it, then measure. Adoption and retention tell you if it worked. - A design isn't done at handoff. It's done when it's running. ## Experience ### Software Engineer, WebHR (2022 to now) Ran the web.hr website and its SEO, then moved to React Native. Revamped the mobile app in 2025 and grew it from 3K to 12K+ users, on a platform used in 190+ countries. Now also working on the AI side of our products. Spent the next seven years doing client design work before switching to code. ## Case studies - [Growing the WebHR app from 3K to 12K users](https://ibii.dev/work/webhr-app), 2022 to now. The unglamorous work: rebuilding the flows people used daily, cutting steps out of clocking in, and making the app fast enough that HR teams stopped avoiding it. - [Face recognition and offline-first attendance](https://ibii.dev/work/webhr-kiosk), 2023 to now. Biometric clock-in on a kiosk that has to stay reliable when the Wi-Fi isn't. Local queueing, conflict-free sync, and real-time face detection. - [Somezing: AI agents that run the workflow](https://ibii.dev/work/somezing), 2024.
